DESCRIPTION
Ca l’Helena is in the heart of the village of Castellet, the house has been renovated to make it comfortable and cosy, offering all the details for making your stay an unforgettable one. The stone walls are the only architectural feature which evoke the past and they integrate harmoniously with the present, with modern materials which fit in with the surroundings and the environment. Wood, glass and warm colours make for a very cosy atmosphere.
The different living spaces which it possesses – lounge, reading room, balcony, porch, hall – make it possible for the guests to be together or otherwise to enjoy their own space, to read, listen to music, contemplate the landscape or the many birds that can be seen here.
The four bedrooms: two twins and two doubles, are all en-suite and the beds are large and comfortable.
The kitchen is large, very functional, thought out and equipped to make it possible to share the preparation of any meals with the rest of the guests. We wanted to give this special emphasis as we consider the kitchen and all that surrounds it as an opportunity for sharing, hence we have placed a recipe book in which we offer our best recipes and where we invite anyone who would like to leave theirs to do so.
The furniture is above all comfortable and functional, simply adorned and highlighting pieces with history, recovered from the family environment and restored. A fitting dialogue between the old and the new.
Out of respect for the environment the house has solar energy for hot water, low energy lighting and waste should be separated, for which we count on the collaboration of our guests.
The village
Castellet enjoys a privileged geographical location that offers plenty in terms of activities and excursions. The village is just 15km from Vilanova i la Geltrú and its beautiful sandy beaches, 15km from Vilafranca del Penedés – the capital of the wine producing region “el Penedès”-, 20km from Sitges, and 60km from Barcelona.
Castellet has a restaurant and a small store where you can buy wine, honey and marmalade. The village still moves at a different pace. At 12 o’clock the van from the neighbouring town’s bakery arrives and honks, and anyone wanting fresh bread comes out to the van and buys it.
The area around Castellet is perfect for beautiful walks, castle visits, hiking, cycling, riding, etc. The natural park Parque Natural del Foix is particularly well known amongst bird watchers, who come here from far flung places to pursue their hobby. The region’s main activity revolves around wine growing and everything associated with it. Many of the local wineries and cava producers offer tours and tastings. The neighbouring villages are famous for their traditional Catalan celebrations. During the summer a different village festival takes place almost every weekend, with traditional music, food, Castells (human towers), Gegants (giant puppets worn by people dancing through the streets), Diables (devils that run through the streets setting off firecrackers), etc.
